Al Shabaab attacks African Union peacekeepers in southern Somalia

MOGADISHU, Somalia — Fighters with the Al Qaeda-affiliated Al Shabaab group have launched a massive mortar and gun attack on military bases belonging to the UN-mandated African Union peacekeeping forces in Somalia known as (AMISOM) in Qoryooley district in Lower Shabelle region, military officials and a rebel spokesman said.
