BREAKING: Senior Somali intelligence chief shot dead by his bodyguard

A Somali security guard has shot and killed his boss who was a top intelligence chief working for Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security agency (NISA) in Jowhar, an agriculture-rich town located some 90 kilometers (55 miles) north of Mogadishu, Somali Capital.

The intelligence boss who was identified as  Abdiwali Ibrahim Nur was gunned down inside his office on Tuesday evening by his  security guard who has recently defected from the Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabaab islamists.

Somali security officials in the town say they have managed to capture the soldier shortly after the shooting which led to the death of the intelligence chief. Reports from Jowhar suggest that another intelligence officer was injured in the attack.

An investigation is underway to find out the exact motive behind the murder of the intelligence official, according to security agency of Somalia known as NISA. Al Shabaab did not comment on the incident.
